Default Autometer gauges ls swap in 3rd gen camaro

Has anybody installed a gauge cluster with autometer gauges in 3rd gen camaro Ls swap 84 z28 to be exact? Reason asking is because I bought one and I have it wired up and everything. My question is how do I plug it into my car factory wire harness? Like turn signals high beam indicators check engine light. It's a covans classic dash. It has a harness plugged into each gauge but there's 4 connectors idk where they go. Funny thing is is that they plug right into each other. Can someone tell me where to go from here. Or is there some instructions I can follow. I tried goggle and I didn't come across a setup for a ls swap. Thanks

Did the dash come with instructions? You'll most likely have to identify your various factory wires and connect them to the new dash plugs.

No it didn't. I took them out of a wrecked car. I'm trying to find some instructions. The gauges that's in it are phantom gauges. The connectors that come off the wire harness doesn't match the connectors on my cars factory gauge connectors that was plugged into the factory gauge cluster itself

Vern, you might have to cut off the old factory connector and use something like weather pack connector or something like this http://www.radioshack.com/radioshack...r/2740232.html so you will be able to remove the gauges easily. I used a similiar connector to the radio shack one but it was a 15 pin one I picked up off of the internet somewhere. Here is a link to help you identify your factory wires. http://www.austinthirdgen.org/?pid=19

Here is an installation link that might give you some ideas on what you have to do. http://www.superchevy.com/how-to/060...trument-panel/

Good Luck!

MAN that's exactly what I needed to know. I will definitely use this information. So does the RadioShack connectors snap into the connectors on the wire harness. I looked at the super chevy write up and it didn't indicate what type of connectors after snipping the factory connectors

You have to source both the male and female connectors. If you want something better than the RadioShack stuff, look into MetriPack connectors. The 150 series will suit your needs.

Andrew, I totally agree with you about the metri pack connectors. I currently use the weather pack stuff but would like to buy the stuff for the metripack ones. After buying the correct crimper, I don't think I will ever use any other connector. I just need to learn how to disassemble/reassemble them. The radio shack stuff works good on a budget though.

I will look into the metripack and see what I can get myself into. Basically all that I'm using from the factory wires are the fuel turn signals and high beam and volt correct? The speedo tach and cel I can hook up to my leads on my standalone harness. The temp and oil have sending units so I can run the leads and get a direct reading. Hope that's what I'm thinking is correct
