5.7 to 6.0 gains (only swapping the short block)?
Long story short I pulled my 5.7 to swap on some cleaned up 243 heads, lifters, and seals while painting the engine bay. After tearing everything apart I found a cam lobe to be bad so a new cam has to go in. At this point I literally just have a 120k ls1 block with crank and pistons sitting on my stand. Everything else is either new or rebuilt sitting on the bench waiting to be put back on. It seems to me like now could be a great time to swap to a LQ9, before buying a new cam for the ls1, if there are gains to be had.
The question I've been having a hard time finding the answers to is, what is the power gain going from a ls1 to a lq9 block and bottom end, with everything else from the ls1 being swapped over? No boring, no stroking, no l92 heads. Just short block for short block with all ls1/ls6 parts moved over.
Right now I have a ls6 intake, 243 heads, and 1 7/8 headers. I will likely be putting in the largest streetable cam I can fit without flycutting.

Probably won't gain anything power wise, and remember you are adding 100 lbs to the car by going to the iron lq9..
So any power increase will be compromised by the weight penalty. Either way the lq9 can be made to make some killer power when all is said and done.. But a straight swap like you mentioned won't add any power noticeable..

This is exactly what I did (to my HCI from the LS1 over to the LQ9) and mainly it just created a broader torque curve while not much change to the horsepower. Personally I like it better because you can feel the extra torque from the extra cubes
