No, the starter is serviceable without having to touch the headers.

Update 5/20/16

The first production run of the Hooker 1968-72 A-body transmission crossmembers made it up onto the shelf this morning. This should come as good news to all of you who have had an order in for one, or have been waiting for them to be released to place an order.

Any chance this crossmember might work on the 66/67 cars?

No it won't, but I'm working on one specifically for the 64-67 A-bodies as part of the complete Hooker swap system being developed. It's very close to this crossmember aesthetically speaking but had to be modified slightly to accommodate the different crossmember frame hole patterns of the 64-66 cars and the 67 cars, which were punched to accept a TH400 transmission when ordered. If you graze through the 1964-67 Hooker A-body LS Swap System preview thread, you can see CAD images of that crossmember in there.

Oh I have been grazing... the entire time you have been doing the project and can't wait for it to be completed.
I was just wishful thinking that it might be the same for both cars.

Yeah, I would have certainly taken a "freebie" on that one if I could have, but the development gremlins conspired against me again...seems it always works out that way when you're trying to achieve detailed fitment and function characteristics.

Hooker 1968-72 transmission crossmember alive and in the flesh...this one is going to get cut-up and mocked-up into an El Camino to establish critical geometry for a box-frame version (EL Camino/Convertible) to be offered in the future.

Outstanding any idea of the pinion angle you will use and anticipated completion date such as this year or next year, regardless I will be getting a convertable cross member.

Thank you very much for picking this whole project up and accounting for all of the variables and concerns. This is an awsome package.

I won't be able to report on U-joint working angles until things get mocked up in the car, but the engine inclination angle won't deviate much from the non-box frame cars, if at all. I would say this will come to be an end of the year release.

Hey bikerman9967. Unfortunately, I have no way of telling how compatible the headers would be with any transmission crossmember other than the Hooker assembly shown above or the stock crossmember, as they both share the same center-to-center arch spacing between them.

I don't know off the top of my head, but I'll check into it for you.

Will pricing for the convertible version be in line with the hard top? This looks cooler than the gforce one (and I don't know if theirs works with a T56 or not)

Yes, I anticipate the pricing being in-line with the non-convertible version.
