Default Building a boosted 5.4L Iron LSX for my R33 Nissan Skyline

I had the very first LSX 240sx years ago and well in 2011 I traded that car for a motorex R33. Built the **** out of it, broke it, fixed it, painted it, still missed the V8. Tossed the idea around alot with regards to a boosted V8 in it bought a LQ4, sold a LQ4 scrapped the idea and then the idea came back.

The plan is a destroked 6.0 Iron gen 3, 5.4L, LS3 heads, ID2200's, AEM infinity delivering power via a Nissan transmission.

I have more than one skyline, I have RB motors out my ***, I am a RB guru and they make great power for what they are, but I miss a LSX, and I want to make 1200WHP at high boost

Aqquired.
LSX Swap kit for 240sx (edelbrock / Canton racing)
Low mile LQ4
New 4.8 liter crank
Lunati 6.30 H-Beam Connecting rods
L92 heads
1/2 inch head studs
ARP Main stud kit
Sheet metal intake
Fancy ebay turbo manifolds
Custom cam

Need to order pistons after block and heads are done at machine shop.. I want diamond but they want 2 grand so..... I may run Weisco or JE. Need to access valve train, I wanna spin her fast so solid rollers may be a must, I need to do my homework here.

In 2020 I plan on something very similar. I am guessing you have a GTS? I don't want to spend the money on an R, though AWD sounds like fun.

Does anyone make a trans controller for an '09+ GTR transaxle? I wish AEM or someone with a reasonably priced harness/ECU offered that...

Check out Racetech pistons. They will do custom ones for almost 30% less than the others...

I'm a RB guru, have many of them here at home, tons of RB builds, lots of LS builds. It comes dollar to dollar for HP 600WHP RB25 and 720RB26 is where things get super pricey. A grand for cams, 1800 for an oil pump, then this an that you go broke or you blow up.

I can make 800 on rod bolts only LSX, not forever but a bit. Or for a similar budget I can build a 8K RPM Big boost LSX screamer. With majority of the budget on the turbo and hardware.

And thanks for the lead on Racetech, super nice, super cool and they quoted me around 1K for my setup.

Now I need to access cam/valvetrain I dont know if I should run hydro or convert to solid.

Headed downstairs to work on the RB24 aka RB2 Stroker dressed in 24K gold plated ****

I just ordered a set of 4.190" bore pistons from them. $1k with rings, wrist pins, custom pistons including gas porting.

You can easily run 8's on a basic mild hydraulic roller cam. The stock rockers should have the trunion bearings replaced. LS7 lifters are not the highest quality and you should opt for something better. Either link bar or a drop in style lifter. I spin my hydraulic roller to 7800rpm at times and it makes around 1400hp. Idles like a kitten lapping a bowl of milk.

LSA/LS9 heads are rotocast.... and a better casting than the LS3. IMO it is worth spending a couple extra hundred bucks and get the LSA heads. They weigh almost 2lbs more than the LS3 heads from the improved casting process and are made from a higher grade alum.

I already have the LS3 heads. I am familiar with the ls9 head, and understand the thickness issues. I am very good at port cleanings, I don't polish but I will smooth out the runners (burrs and casting). They will also be rebuild at BMS. I used ls7 lifters on previous builds but not this. I need to see whats available, but I will probably stay hydro which also lets me use the turbo cam I have. I have BMS racing engines doing the machine and precision work. I will be using 1/2 head studs BTW.

Really like what you are trying to do but I wont pretend I have enough knowledge to offer appropriate advice. With that said the link below has a destroked build which may offer some information to you.
