Default TT 5.3 T56 87 supra

so a few years ago i picked up a clean 87 supra targa to bag around in for about 5gs. it was fun, had a forged bottom end and ported head and whatnot, and i screwed around with it a bit but ultimately i got sick of the inline six laggyness. i left it out in the cold (up in alberta canada) and the battery died and while i was boosting it i fried one of the fifty random goddamn modules in the thing and the wiring harness was old and causing me issues so i did the only logical thing i coule think of. tore out a perfectly good drivetrain, parted it out for 4800$ and ended up with a basically free roller with some goodies in it. tien colovers, cusco 1.5 way lsd, and some gauges. ive got an 07 silverado i strapped an 80mm on and had really good luck with the stock 6.0 in it, so i figured why not have a universal platform between the truck and the car lol.

Heres the car the summer before i tore it apart. it came with free stickers when i bought it, extra horsepower!

<a href="http://s30.photobucket.com/user/Vorteccrack/media/IMG_1566_zps1tyhhill.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c335/Vorteccrack/IMG_1566_zps1tyhhill.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_1566_zps1tyhhill.jpg"/></a>

after a few beers staring at the lack of engine bay i decided to make some more room. it look alot to make this decision based on the fact id never fabricated a thing in my life haha but to make the twin turbos fit it would have been really tight and a pain in the *** to work on, which isnt what i wanted for the car. so out came the sawzall. lots of room now!

<a href="http://s30.photobucket.com/user/Vorteccrack/media/IMG_1568_zps1inay6k4.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c335/Vorteccrack/IMG_1568_zps1inay6k4.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_1568_zps1inay6k4.jpg"/></a>

i ordered a 130$ flux core welder off of summit and screwed around a bit. came up with this.

there was no way a truck pan was going to fit but talking to a local guy id met recently he gave me a killer deal on a corvette water pump, ati balancer, and a GMPP Circle track oil pan.

<a href="http://s30.photobucket.com/user/Vorteccrack/media/IMG_1594_zpske9hfrkx.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c335/Vorteccrack/IMG_1594_zpske9hfrkx.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_1594_zpske9hfrkx.jpg"/></a>

shiny things came in the mail. i went with cxracing gt35 copies. cheap, and should make the power i want for now. the v band elbows are actually really nice pieces

<a href="http://s30.photobucket.com/user/Vorteccrack/media/IMG_1657_zpsgfzlmydr.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c335/Vorteccrack/IMG_1657_zpsgfzlmydr.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_1657_zpsgfzlmydr.jpg"/></a>

Test fitting stuff, seeing how i want everything to run, its hard pictureing how everythings going to end up.

i had room to push the rad forward a bit for some room for accessories and other shiny racecar things. but the lower rad support wasnt working in my favor so i cut that s**t outta there too. so much room for activities!

<a href="http://s30.photobucket.com/user/Vorteccrack/media/IMG_1726_zpst881hkfn.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c335/Vorteccrack/IMG_1726_zpst881hkfn.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_1726_zpst881hkfn.jpg"/></a>

started figuring out manifolds. passenger side was easy, drivers side took some more modification.

i was never a fan of the square tubing thing but thats all my fab skills would allow. i couldnt get the rad where i wanted it because of the cross bar but i came up with a solution that should help with the look. it didnt bend very nice because its one inch tube and my buddy used a 1 5/8 die on his bender haha (all he had)

this was my first exhaust plan. i was kind of iffy on it but it gave me a chance to try my hand at exhaust fitting.

heres how the upper rad mount came out. im actually really happy with it! not bad for a complete noob fabricator. also a couple pictures how the modded truck manifolds turned out and i have a friends vette apart so i used his intake for test fitting purposes.

This is so rad. I really like the positioning of the turbos. Are you merging the wastegate back into the downright?

The Magnum is the way to go. Night and day difference between it and the older T56. I like your gusto and I am subbed for this one.

ive had two of these- 88 n/a and a 90 turbo- hence my screen name for the last 15 years or more. Looks awesome- cant believe you are doing all this with a flux core welder! Plenty of room in that tunnel for a trans though- and the rear axel is pretty stout in those.

I approve this build (not that you needed my approval!). I have a soft sport for all the mid to late 80s Japanese cars. I was a teenager when they were the ****...

Waste gates and down pipes will be separate out the hood. I didn't see the point in merging them for 18" of exhaust LOL

thanks for the support everyone I definitely appreciate it. I'm fairly new to all this and it's been a wicked learning experience so far. I've got a bunch more pictures to post but we're I'm working right now the Internet is s*** so as soon as I get home there's going to be more updates

Based on the box sitting next to the gauges, I'm going to go out on a limb and say they're GlowShift Tinted 7 Color Series.

[QUOTE=Vorteccrack;19152780]the cxracing mounts didnt fit in the slightest. so i went ahead and made my own. the engine plates are pretty nice though

<a href="http://s30.photobucket.com/user/Vorteccrack/media/IMG_1896_zps3ahzcsyy.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c335/Vorteccrack/IMG_1896_zps3ahzcsyy.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_1896_zps3ahzcsyy.jpg"/></a>

<a href="http://s30.photobucket.com/user/Vorteccrack/media/IMG_1897_zpsqwb8aqak.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c335/Vorteccrack/IMG_1897_zpsqwb8aqak.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_1897_zpsqwb8aqak.jpg"/></a>

So I am doing the same build and ran into the same issue with the cxracing motor mounts. My build is an 87 supra turbo shell with an lm7 and th350. Did cxracing work with you at all to remedy the situation?

All the pictures are there if you can keep yourself from putting an ice pick through your eye ball because of the ads on the photobucket website...
