Default 2007 Classic (early model) 5.3 and transmission
Just took delivery of 2007 Classic 5.3 and automatic transmission still all hooked together. Cast iron block and aluminum heads. How can I tell if the transmission is a 4L60e or the 4L80e.

The Bellhousing on the 4l60e is removable. On the 4l80e is part of the casting.

I dont think any 5.3 came with a 4l80e. Are you sure it is a gen III
