Default 70 Triumph GT6 LS swap

Starting another british car swap, well doing 2 swaps currently, one being a typhoon and this one, a 70 Triumph GT6. Back story on the car is I got the car from a guy offloading it for dirt cheap. Someone had already done a ton of the hard work for me. Full custom frame, braced and reinforced, All steel body with a ton of the body work done, and done fairly well. SBC engine (iron block and iron heads) with a TH400 trans behind it, and rounding out the back was a ford 9 inch with a mini spool in it. Total weight for the car as it sat with all of that in it was 2022lbs. Suspension is a custom 4 link in the back that I'm going to fix due to some sloppy work and bags all the way around that I'm going to swap for adjustable coilovers. I want to get a few opinions on what I'm thinking as a way ahead on the car. I originally was going to put a viper motor in the car and after a lot of measurements, I could make it fit. They are extremely heavy and expensive though and really, it would just be for the cool factor, since there are many other options that would work a lot better with the parts I have lying around.
new thoughts are something along the lines of...
Engine:
-Iron Block / Aluminum head LS series engine built to handle lots of boost
-T67 twin turbos for now... Haven't decided just yet though.
-4L80E trans to handle the power and give me the overdrive... un-decided on stall speed for the moment
-Already have a Ford 9 inch in the rear and disc brakes all around, the mini spool in the rear is going away and probably something in the 3:55 range will go back in.
-Already have the Fuel system and the engine computers (Fuel lab, FAST XFI/XIM)
-Suspension will be adjustable Coil overs all around.

Here's where I break from the norm and am really un-decided though.
-Thinking of putting 67 mustang Eleanor style rear taillights in the car... I think the rearend of the car lends itself well to that style and that car is my favorite car of all time so I'm a little biased... Open to thoughts or other ideas.
-Car is going to get side pipes but going to recess them like the Jaguar V12 powered GT6 that's been built over on Britishv8.org... I don't have the space to run them under the frame so coming off the turbos, that seems like an easy choice.
-I'm going to put the side windows back in the car to fix the looks and massive blind spot that it has right now. I haven't decided if -I'm going to put the little vents behind the windows or not... Thoughts?
-I'm going to French in the license plate in the rear below the Eleanor tail lights.

Thoughts? Car weighed 2,022lbs with the TH400, Iron block/heads SBC, and ford 9 inch in the car. I'm going to try and keep the full weight of the car below 2600 lbs.
-I'm looking for a very small vintage air type setup that I can cram in the dash area to give me AC and Heat. any ideas on where to find one?
-The interior right now will be bucket seats and I'll go through and re-do everything so it looks nice and more up to speed with the theme of the build.
-paint scheme, well, yeah, very close to the Eleanor type paint scheme. Basically gunmetal grey with a black stripe from the hood scoop back and a red pinstripe around that black stripe. Eleanor type wheels probably because I have ford bolt pattern on the car right now.

Thoughts?

Classic Auto Air has a smaller dash unit in their universal kit. They can also set you up with LS accessory brackets, compressor, and various sizes of condensers.

Yeah, I was looking into some of their stuff, it looks like it might fit the bill well. The good thing is I have plenty of room to mount the compressor, etc.

Anyone know the measurements for 67 mustang Eleanor taillights (Same size as 67 cougar) ? I've been searching but I can't find any measurements.

I actually have 2 other questions...
-Do injectors have to be specifically setup for E85 or does it not matter on the injectors for E85. My gut tells me that they have to be specific injectors to run E85 reliably.
-Can just airbags be used for the suspension or do shocks also have to be used? I've researched around for awhile and I've seen different types of setups... air with leaf springs, air bags with no shocks, air bags with shocks and air shocks, like the ridetech stuff... Thoughts?

Check out resto mod air, they've got a lot of options and have made some pretty slick looking controls for it all as well.

I may borrow their loaner bantham AC unit to see if it would fit in my application. It's going to be tight, that's for sure. I appreciate the input.

Any input on the shocks piece? Is it possible to just use airbags without shocks or do you have to have shocks as well?

Very cool project!! Unless the engine combination is already a done deal, you may want to consider going with an aluminum block to keep some additional weight off the front end. An ERL aluminum shortblock can handle the boost and give the car a more favorable center of gravity. Bob

I have an LS6 block lying around... Maybe I'll have to look into that route, I was going to toss that one in the typhoon though. If the Block was studded out and a girdle added to the bottom, you think it could handle that power level?

I don't see you having problems with it. Bob

You CAN run just bags but it wouldn't be too fun to drive. Same principle as any spring with no shocks. Coil overs would suit the build much better.

Yeah, I figured I'd ask... I think I'm just going to toss some coilovers on it, just got to figure out the best way to package them. Shouldn't be too terrible. I don't suppose anyone has access to a 67 -68 cougar or Eleanor clone that they can measure the height and width of the taillights? I think they may be too long to look correct in the rear, but oddly enough, I'm looking at my 69 Camaros rear taillights and they may look pretty good in the back. Any suggestions?

Something like the CA special mustang tail lights would look period correct but may be too wide for such a small car. They're nothing exciting but 70-76 pinto/maverick tail lights would look period correct and be a piece of cake to mount.

I'm going to toss the blower back on when I get back home... It just seemed RIGHT when it had it on there.

Just in case anyone was wondering the measurements for Eleanor mustang taillights, which should be the same dimensions as 67-68 Cougar taillights, are 23 1/8 x 4 1/4. That's for each lens. I'll have to double check but I think that's going to be too big just eyeballing it in my head and on my desk with a ruler. Oh well, onto other options I suppose.
