I didnt get the exhaust welded up like I wanted, but, with the work of a sawzall, grinder, a lot of sweat and clamps, I got the exhaust mostly done.

My buddy says he is coming over tonight to fix the idle and go over the tune; Which will allow me to actually drive it around the block to make sure the shifter is fixed and then I can finish installing the interior.

Im really hoping to have it ready for a show this weekend as a couple friends of mine are one of the main sponsors.

Imagine that, I missed the show. Im still dealing with an idling issue, so I threw in the towel and Im having it towed to the shop. I have my former tuner going to look at it and see if a fresh set of eyes can find what I screwed up.

I did manage to snap a couple shots before the rollback came...

First time in a loooong time that its been facing the street! LoL!

The front passenger is 1'' taller than the drivers side, so once I get it running right, Ill address that.

Still up in the air on what Im going to do with the rim/tire combination. But in the meantime, these are staying. I might hit them with some red paint, not sure yet. I just want to DRIVE this thing!!

I bet some cheap steel black D-Hole wheels would look pretty good on that thing. Though I'm not a fan of the red pinstripe.

Here is a video from Saturday.

I drove it on Sunday and man its A BLAST! The stock manual brakes make it interesting, but still, too much fun!
Unfortunately, I got it back on my lift as I think the brand new pilot bushing took a ****. So Ill address that when I get home.

Always something with these projects.

What are the symptoms of a faulty pilot bushing?

When you let the clutch out and the truck shutters, shakes and vibrates like all hell is breaking loose! It literally feels like the trans is going to fall on the ground.

Not sure why this pilot bearing tore up. Especially with less than 40 miles on it. I have a buddy coming over and we are going to Align the bellhousing. Thats a slow process which requires some patience, which I tend to run out of!

Oh well, at least the truck is tuned and I can drive it as soon as its fixed.

No sparks and everything seemed to work, so Im keeping my fingers crossed that Ill be making noise here soon.

Things left to do:

1) Add trans fluid
2) Fab up exhaust
3) Figure out why headlights and radio dont work
4) a million little things to check once it fires!!

I did happen to get a "leak free" Intercooler pump system working. So Im happy that worked.

Thanks for watching!!

Where did you get your base tune? Thanks, Rob

I had Brad from Tin Soldiers load a Base file into the Holley HP. Then Tracey Scott fine tuned it all on the street and Dyno.

I found a copy template. Its rough, but you will probably need to fine tune it to your SC anyway. Just pay the postage and its all good. Im happy to help out a fellow C10 guy.

Whats your address?

Ouch. Could have been a bad quality bearing, but hows your input shaft play?

YOW... Sorry to read of that happening to you! (And having just fought a bit to get my own T56 bolted up, reading that makes me a little bit nervous about my own swap...)

One thing that I thought I'd mention - the shop that built my T56 recommended that I never use pilot bearings, instead they advised the use of a pilot bushing. Of course, at this point there's no way for me to know if that would have made any difference with that issue, but since you have it apart now, maybe that's worth trying... The PN for the solid bushing that I used is B656. I hope this is helpful, good luck.

If this new bearing goes out, I will be using the solid bushing AND checking the shaft play.

I know one thing, this is probably one of the funest projects I have built in a long time. I can break tires loose in 3 gears and it will pull when I stab the throttle in 5 & 6th! Too much fun!!

Fingers crossed that's the last of the clutch problems!

I rolled the dice and went with a Roller Bearing and checked the old one as a faulty one. So far, so good. (fingers crossed)

I was on my way down to LS Fest in Bowling Green KY when I noticed a small, thin trail of white smoke coming out of the back of my truck.
****! Now what?
I pulled over and looked underneath....trans fluid was all over the DS and dripping down onto the exhaust. Just my luck.
So I turned around, drove it home and put the truck back on the lift.
So now Im waiting on a seal. Since I upgraded to a Viper Mainshaft, I had to upgrade the Slip Yoke as well, which requires a special seal. I ordered 2 so hopefully I will be good to go when the arrive.

I took the rails off, no real reason, just wanted to see the truck plain.
It funny when I pop the hood and people see the engine. They are definitely not expecting to see that!

I also drove it over to my friends work to have him vacuum the AC system and charge it. I just have to adjust the tune as when its on, as I come to a stop, the truck wants to die.

Andy got it done. The Vintage Air blows 42 degrees.

Ive had some cool projects before, but this one, its STUPID FUN to drive!! It blows the tires off in 1st, 2nd, 3rd and will chirp 4th!!! Ill be rolling along on the highway in 6th, punch it and it pulls! No lagging, no hesitation, it just accelerates!
I still have some things to address, but overall....Im extremely happy with it!

Im not sure what mods Im going to do next, rims/tires, brakes, or nothing. Its just kinda cool the way it is. Rusty, torn seat, dents, dirty and all.

I did have one guy ask me how much. I told him, "Way too much" and "A STUPID amount of money"

Oh yeah, Ive already been pulled over twice! The first time, I was being a dumbass and showing off, when I passed a cop on a Bike! I immediately slowed down, turned the corner, but then hit traffic. He caught up to me and gave me a talking to. I was carrying at the time and let him know several times, but when I told him, that yes I was being stupid, but the power of the LS is too much fun.
He remarked, you have an LS1 in here?
Yes sir! Would you like to see under the hood?
When he said, very much so. I knew my chances of getting out of a ticket were very good!

The other time, I pulled out of my driveway and got on it, just a bit. I looked in rearview and two cars back was our local guy. ****! AGAIN???
he followed me to the gas station, parked behind me and came walking up.

DID YOU GET THE 6 SPEED Installed? (I broke down months ago, and he was the guy who stayed with me until the tow truck showed up, so he knew what I was planning)
Oh I got a lil something to go along with that 6 speed as Im raising the hood...
HOLY ****!! Thats freaking awesome!!

No ticket that day either. I guess I better watch my right foot or my insurance is going to go through the roof!

Thanks for tuning in!
