id be curious to see if an off the shelf set of lt1 wires would work in your case, seems like they'd be pretty close length just running in the oppostie direction.
Thanks, I think I found some though. The problem is they're $18 and $12 to ship them! I hate paying almost the same price for shipping as the actual item.....

Congratulations on the startup. I don't think I have ever done a build where it just started on the first attempt. I get a kick out of the first quick turn of a key on the car build shows that always fire 'em right up

The start up on my '61 was problematic due to fuel pressure.

Well, I need to lower the engine. I am thinking I do have V8 stands. I have a 6° driveline angle. Doesn't make sense to me that I have that high angle when set up the same as others that don't. I have the transmission raised at teh back 1" too.
yep, the Hiboy is still there, it's one of my favorite burger joints., and yeah, first start ups usually don't go off without a hitch, but back in the 90's when I did my first TPI swap, I was cycling the key on and off to build fuel pressure to check for leaks, and accidentally hit the starter and it fired up! I was shocked, but happy.

Thanks, it is always a good feeling.

When you first started this thread, I thought it was going to be a simple toss in a LS powertrain and drive it. I should of known you'd make it nice with a lot of cool ideas.

When I grow up, I want to have your ability. LOL
No, I am still as happy as a kid on Christmas morning when they finally fire up! I probably should have done the simple LS swap and drive it type of build, I would be further along by now, but what's the fun in that?

It was still running in about 1996, the last time I was there. The impending head-on collision with an oncoming train was pretty freaky the first time. lol

My radiator showed up yesterday, so I decided to hang the core support and a fender on the car to see how it fits. This thing was $199 shipped on ebay, so I hope it isn't a total piece of junk, but it looks pretty nice! I'm almost positive it came from the same company I bought the radiator for my Blazer from at the GoodGuys show a couple of years ago and its been a good radiator.

It's all welded and not epoxied.

1959 Biscayne 2 door wagon-cf5ppcy.jpg

It's notched to clear the CPP power steering box, but I'd say they went just a little overboard!

Put the F body fans on it to see if they are going to fit. They are hitting the box so some trimming is in order.

I could gain some room if I take the CPP cover off the box, but there's something about paying $350 for a PS box that makes you want to let people know you paid that much so it's staying....

Initial trimming took care of a lot of it, so I think it's going to work. My project for tomorrow is to make some brackets to mount the fans.

The radiator looks nicer than I expected. A friend bought one that is similar, but different from one of the big name restoration parts places and it hits. I think he paid about double and had it too long to send back. I told him we should notch the tank, but he has problems cutting a new radiator.

Now you need to take all the stickers from all the products you purchased and place them on the rear side windows NASCAR contingency (now ricer) style.

I know aluminum radiators used to be a 'you get wht you pay for' kind of deal, but I thnk there's so much competition on the market, and aluminum is about all you can get these days so the price has come down on them. So what's your buddy going to do with his if it doesnt fit and he has a problem making it fit? Seems like a lot of money to just sit on?

:

I probably got the same one your friend did.

One difference for me: I used a Borgeson 600 unit instead fo the CPP 500. I don't recall why now.

The notched radiator just BARELY fits...actually, I had to raise the radiator a bit for clearance as well. You can see the notches in the mounting holes I had to cut:

What did that fan come off of? I picked up one from a ford contour and it fit the champion radiator in my 64 pretty good. I can take a few photos if you want.

Congratulation's on the first start up. It must feel good hearing the fruits of all your hard labor.

Not sure if you are asking me that question, but it is a Cooling Components Fan.

No problem. I presumed so, but as it was right below my picture and not quoted I didn't want to ignore.

It's a 95 ish Ford Contour fan and roughly 3 3/4" from the radiator core to the edge of the fan motor bolts. It might help, it might not, just throwing it out there.

My fans are off a 4th gen F body, but I really like those fans you have better because the left one is higher than the right, the opposite of mine, it would have saved me the trouble around the gear box. But, since I spent the day getting mine to fit before you posted that pic, mine are staying. Lol!
