I cut the sides off the bigger bottom one moved the engine to the front a few inches and welded it back.
The top one I had to move the two bolt holes on the mount just a little. Lucklily there are already two extra threaded holes in the floor in just the right spot.
I will get better pics when i get it on the lift again.

Thanks -does the stock cross member fit ? There isn't a lot of clearance to adapter plate and bellhousing .If you make a new cross member please post a picture .
Great thread

DCD, I will have to make a new crossmember. I may use the original ends and just put a new center in.

With the modified cross member the engine can be slightly lower and keep the firewall insulation which is another plus .

Whiteout ,Thanks I read over your build many times! Great to have you here!

DCD, the insulation on the top i did leave because its so thin it wont make any difference.

The insulation on the front end i did remove for the access hole.
Here is a pic of the top trans mount to show about how far it moved.

The other holes are just slightly closer together.

That is a really good idea .The cross member might be a little tricky but the end result will be worth the effort .

Great to see that you moved the engine back!!! I was going to do that, but you have to machine the bottom off the Kennedy adapter to clear the rear suspension cross bar. I will look at doing it if I switch over to the G96.50 transaxle. The adapter plate is way thinner.

Nah i will just make a new crossmember , maybe use just the ends of the stock one with a new center.
One hang up on moving it this far is the counter weight on the trans will hit the floor.....ooopppsss! No big deal i will cut it off ,some say it is good some say bad....i guess i will find out the hard way.

Counterweight? On the shift mechanism or something else? There's weights on the shift arms that can go, GT2 don't have them...

Yeah one of the shift levers has a weight on top and the bottom. I removed the top one and the shifter works nice, I only hope it will work as good under power.

Pics asap........

Not sure about having it mounted that high in the system though, could lose its prime.

I would agree, that was the first thing I thought when I looked at the picture.

Thanks guys, we will see but at this point the top of the hose fitting is no higher than the full level on the expansion tank. Could possibly be a little air at the top when full but that could be bled off.

Pump should be ok as long as there is water on both sides -which there should be since expansion tank is highest point in the system .There does need to be a bleed hole in thermostat .I have a similar configuration and it works ok .
