Little bit of progress. Intake and injectors installed. Water pump. Crank pulley on and torqued. Will do oil pan tonight (CTS-V pan). All the other motor and drivetrain parts are showing up next week. I'll likely pull the 383 and TH350 out very soon. I have them both sold.

I attached a couple pics from under the truck. So clean!!!!

A couple of goodies showed up yesterday. CTS-V oil pan, which I promptly installed. And the Hooker/Holley transmission cross member. Looks like a nice piece.

Pulled the trans, torque converter and flex plate out. I've never pulled an automatic trans before....that was more work than I thought and very messy. Another reason to hate automatics!

Default Headers

Headers from Speed Engineering showed up. I can't believe how nice these are for $279. Wow. Hopefully they fit nice, but even if they don't, I won't feel bad modifying them since they were so inexpensive.

Thanks! I'm really having fun with this one. It's nice having one LS swap under my belt already. This one seems much less overwhelming and complicated, and therefore way more fun.

Maybe for automatics. Moot point for me, I don't do automatics.

They do, but this one is getting nitrous. My 3rd (future) LS build will likely be a turbo, then I'll have the trifecta of power adders. The GTO has a blower, the C10 will have nitrous, next one will have to be a turbo.

Yes I imagine this swap is simpler. Went through your GTO build and that was well done. Just kept getting better with the supercharger addition. That looks like a very fun (and fast) ride!

Default 383 is out!

383 is out. Because of some cherry picker issues, that took longer than it should have, but it's out, sold, and gone.

Looks great-your GTO build was awesome! If you don't mind how much did you give for the donor power plant with how many miles? Shopping myself and I know it varies from state to state.

Thanks!

I only paid $400 for this LQ4, but that's a steal, especially because this one is very clean. That being said, I don't know the mileage. I think they are usually in the $1000 to $1500 range. I paid $800 for my last one (in the GTO) and it supposedly had 85k miles on it, but I had no documentation to support that. Plus it was a New England motor and had so much rust on it. It looked clean inside when I pulled the heads though....that was good enough for me.

That's a really clean truck 67 goat. Are you aware that Hooker has a set of engine mounting brackets that were developed to work with the Hooker trans crossmember you have and ensure that your LS/T56 install would be purely a bolt-in exercise without requiring any drilling? I don't know how well the holes in the crossmember feet will line up with the holes in your frame if you use it with any other type of mount...you may end up having to drill additional holes in your frame.
