I didn't want mine under the hood on my 65 C10 and couldn't fit it under the dash because of the Vintage Air. I stuck it behind the seat on a S10 bracket.
I have the GMPP harness in a 68 A-body and I thought the length fits just right for mounting in the front of the passenger fender. I made a bracket to mount the fuse box on the front edge of the inner fender with the ecm and transmission controller on another bracket tucked in front of the inner fender next to the side marker light.
I grab these in bulk from the junkyard. Mounted on top of the overflow bottle in S10s an Blazers. I got 10 of them for $20 my last trip. ECU slides in and you fasten it in with the clip. Cheap/light/easy mounting option. Fits under most dashes, gloves boxes, etc.
Man, I am curious too. I was working on a 69 Camaro the other day and the guy was using a 411 ECU and that damn thing is ******* huge!!! He has vintage air under the dash and there just isn't any space at all. I think he was going to have a bracket made to mount it above the vintage air and vertical in front of the glove box door. Glove box will be eliminated.
I am curious to see what others have done.

I have a 411 pcm and this is where I put mine. also the fuse block and aldl. mine has been converted to heat only though, no ac.

The 411 will fit- barely- above the glove box liner with vintage air in a 69. That's where I had mine mounted before I switched to an LS3/E38. You have to get creative in the wai the plugs & harness is indexed. No need to eliminate the glove box. I recently installed one in a 69 on the top of the trans tunnel hump up against the firewall. I ran the hole just inside the trans tunnel on pass side. ECM is mounted on its edge, with velcro holding it to the back side of the firewall. Vintage air unit would have to be taken loose from its mounts to put it there.
I'm not sure this will help you on your Camaro, but if you have enough room under a seat here is what I did. I have a lot of room under both front seats so I made a bracket to hold 2 computers and a fuse block. I'm building a subfloor for running the wires through. Its all in progress as you can see in the pictures but you get the idea. I mounted the bracket to the floor with some spacers to make it level and to give it some airflow around it. The GMPP harness was just the right length to reach under the seat. Good luck!

I plan to use the factory LS1 harness and lengthen it to my needs. What about in the drivers side fender on the firewall? You know, where the X stamping is? Im running Vintage Air and my bulkhead will be in the passenger side fender where the original blower motor hole was. I don't have a problem mounting it under the dash or by the trans tunnel like mentioned above but where did you run your wires through?
I used the S10 bracket. The PCM is mounted to the frame rail in my 300ZX, right up front by the cooling fan. It actually doubles as support for my air filter. Zero issues 25k and 5 years later.
Using an S10 mount I put it on the radiator support where the battery used to be and mounted the battery in the trunk. I made up a sheetmetal bracket that I welded to the passenger side fenderwell where I put my fuse panel and relays. This picture was taken while I was still wiring things up. My only regret is I wish the PSI harness was about 5 inches longer so I could have run the bulk of the harness inside the fender. As it is now, I have a huge bundle of wires, and hoses running along the passenger side exposed. I loomed it and wire tied it, but it still looks busy.
I put my 411 on the passenger inner fender but it is under the outer fender so it remains hidden. I took out the 4 corner screws and added rubber standoffs with threaded inserts as there was no room for any of the traditional mounts in that location.
