4th gen gas tank in 3rd gen? i was wondering if anyone has swapped the 4th gen plastic gas tank into a 3rd gen?
any mounting changes or fabrication needed? stock strap positions used?

basically the same shape here's two pics the first is a thirdgen to 4th gen tank comparision pic ,and the second is the plastic fourth gen tank. i'm doing the LS1 /T56 swap in an '89 RS convertible and i'm getting close to having all the parts i need . thirdgen.org is another great source of info for this swap also.sorry the first pic is so small. the 4th gen tank will fit with the 3rd gen straps but you will have to cut the rubber part of the filler neck to get it to fit. it will stick out out of the body if you don't .the 4th gen plastic tank also weighs less (18 lbs. , i think ) than the 3rd gen tank as a nice bonus.
