Default 6.0L Conversion: TKO vs T56

I'm considering a 6.0L truck motor with an LS1 intake swap for my 68 camaro. Transmission conversion kits are available for my car in both the TKO 5-speed and T56 6-speeds that align to the original console shifter. The TKO is about $1000 cheaper.

Three questions:
1. Will both transmissions mount to the 6.0L without issues?
2. Is the T56 worth the extra money?
3. I still might consider an automatic... any advise on manual vs. auto?

I'll be using my car primarily for car shows and cruising, with an occasional trip to the drag strip.

I like the stock F-body T56 with 3.70 rear gears in my conversion. If you aren't going to beat on the car all the time, I don't think there's a need for a $5k "bulletproof" tranny.

The t56 is made to mount up to the 6.0 as the 6.0 is a ls1, it will also mount to the 4.8; 5.3 they are pretty much universal. The t-56 is extremely strong and rugged by itself without any add ons or should i say add ins. They are plentiful and an all around great transmission. if you want to go the 6 speed route. I gave $900.00 for mine with shifter and bell housing. of course i added some other stuff, and then about another $500 for flywheel clutch package. Havn't heard anything good or bad about the TKO so can't help ya there, but i'm more than pleased with my T-56
