Default Anyone done a non-LS1 gen III sbc swap in their f-body?

If this is the I apologize

I'm doing some research on either the LM7 or LQ4 swapped into my '98 V6 camaro. I would go LS1 but this seems so much cheaper. I was wondering if anyone here has done a similar swap.

Gathering information, I'm making a list of what I would need.
K-member and crossmember
Engine and transmission
wiring harness
radiator, hoses
V8 springs

Any input is appreciated.

Fuel pump and regulator to get the right pressure.
I assume that you meant to include it with wiring harness, but if not: correct PCM
Motor mounts
Different alternator/mounting
Different AC components/mounting
And much much more
Also, the springs were the same on the 8 and the 6 in the rear from 98-02, so only front springs.

Consider a used LS1/4l60e or LS1/t56 combo. You can pick up an engine and trans combo like that for around $2500 almost always either on here or on other sites and ebay.

I'l keep my eyes open for that. I'd rather do an LS1 swap, but didn't realize you could get engine and tranny for $2500. Thanks.

Yes, it should be cheaper to do a LS1 A4 swap. You will need.

98 LS1 and A4 complete $2500 80k miles
Base LS1 K-Member $75
Radiator $125
Fuel pump assembly and fuel lines $100
V8 spring and struts $40
Posi 3.23 rear end $150
Hoses, from AutoZone around $60

These are the prices above are what we have in stock. You might do a little better, and a lot worse. The wiring harness will not be a issue since everything is a 98 if you go 99-02 you will just about have to rewire the complete car. You woukd be looking at about $3200 including shipping for everything.

Thanks Scott

Thanks Scott, that is a great offer and definetely something I'm looking into. Do you know off hand if I would need a new crossmember for the tranny, or are the V6 and V8 the same? Also, I would not be needing the 3.23 posi, I already have 3.42 with posi rear. I'm going to do a little more research, and I'll send you an e-mail in a few days. Would you ship to a residential address?

Thanks, Brady
