Question 1st gen ls1/t56 conversion

looking for feedback on ls1/t56 conversion
just picked up a 1969 firebird with a 350 ci engine /automatic transmission
have access to salvage vehicles and was looking for information as to
which would make the better donor car
a late model vette or camareo/trans am f body car.
would like to be able to use as much of the donor as possible ie.
other than engine/ transmission also suspension ,brakes, rear end (f-body)
intrerior components.

I'm also interested. I have a 69 Camaro that I'm considering doing this to. (Possibly s/c'd also?)

I'd go the F-car route.Try to find a 01 or 02 LS1, that way you'll already have the LS6 intake and stuff. If you want A/C, you'll have to change to a different pulley setup, like S+P's. I just removed my compressor, that solved that problem. The brakes do fit, just not sure who sells the brackets. You'd need to do some fab'ing to get the rear to fit on the leaf springs. You can use the 6spd console, seats, and the dash itself if you really feel like chopping up the interior.

thanks for feedback. do you have pic.s of your setup
maybe some close ups of areas that present special challanges.
plan is to drive car and accumulate stuff ,than take the bird off the road
and start project.
