I'm swapping a 1998 LS1 into my Monza 2+2. I'm wondering what would be the best wiring harness for this. I have the 98 computer and harness already. Is there a cheap aftermarket harness? I read Speartech is very good but $$$. Painless has a $499 harness but I was wondering if that is a plug & play harness? Is it pretty easy to wire in the stock harness? I'm using my built turbo 350 with 3000 stall and 3.73 gears. I just need the basics to get this running. I don't have to worry about emissions or anything like that.

Thanks,

spend the bucks and send it to john . you won't regret it . SPEARTECH he did what he said he would do when he said he would do it. you can't go wrong with using his services. jim
Thanks, that does sound like the best way to go. Can't wait to drop it in this weekend. Hopefully I'll have the engine bolted in waiting for fuel and electronics to get done.
I have pics that I need to download and I'll have them up as soon as possible. The 2.5's are slugs, at least it was a Spyder! You should look at V8Monza. com. We have 1700 members and two big meets a year. There is a Vega going together in Norway with an LS1. He posts here as well.
I got the engine to sit in the car. The camaro oil pan needs a small section taken out of the middle step in the sump. I'm getting this welded locally. The engine plates I'm using put the V8monza.com motor mounts right in the factory location. The 98 Camaro exhaust manifolds look like they'll fit real well, it may be a little tight on the passengers side. I'm going to replace the stock in tank fuel pump with 255lph in-tank pump and 3/8 line and run a corvette filter/regulator. I'll post more pics when I down load them from my camara.
if you have the motor, pcm and harness, make it fit yourself. i put a 94 lt1 into a 88 944. changed the pcm location from the front left fender to the pass foot compartment. cut off what i didnt need and resized/relocated the rest. solder and heatshrink all the joints, worked fine.
My Monza is progressing very slowly. I need to get a 7" power brake booster to clear the coils on the drivers side. I'll have to fab up a new bracket for the power steering and I'm getting the S&P alternator bracket for the passenger side. I have to also get an O2 sensor bung welded in on the passenger side exhaust. I was at 3000 lbs with the iron headed 355 and me so I should be at 2700 with me after the swap and the other weight savings that I'm doing. I'll post pics soon.
