My 1975 Volvo 245 4x4 is on the road. Check it out here. http://turbobricks.org/mods.php?content=art0023
I am planning on starting a magazine called "Engine & Drivetrain Conversion Magazine". It will focus on unique conversions where the owner/builder does most or all of the work for less than $12K. You won't find articles about XJ6's or Landcruisers with Chevy 350's but you will find articles like the one listed above. I'm looking for feedback. Would you subscribe to a monthly glossy magazine like that?

That's one cool car. I drove a '91 240 (non-turbo) brick for a winter. It was completely stock with 150k+ miles on it. Even thru the Michinga snow, it never missed a beat. They're pretty indestructible, especially when Bowtie powered. Congrats on getting another one done.

Yes I would
I think that it would be a great magizane. Sign me up!!!! By the way what is wrong with a chevy 350 in a Jaguar!!!!send me an email when you get something. wayne.miller@med.ge.com. One suggestion, it would be great to include the little details about what they had to do to connect the little things. Like how hard was it to connect the cruise control, and how did they determine that a radiator out of a Buick would work in there project. Things like that.

I think you should make it under $20K limit for more subscribers. That is a very cool conversion... I like the turbo diesel MBZ wagon 4x4. What kind of mileage did it get?
My '84 FJ60 LandCruiser may be getting a 5.3/NV4500 (250hp/350tq) transplant if the stock 2F (130hp/200tq) ever gives up. Damn Toyota reliability... $3K 130K mile FJ60, $2500 paint (in progress now), $3500 5.3/NV4500, $1500 in misc parts... one bad *** Cruiser.

The point in excluding 350 powered XJ6's and FJ40's is just that they are relatively common. I'm not saying I don't like them. The reason for targeting sub $12K conversions is I just don't want it to be another "Hot Rod". I originally thought about less than $6K. I've never spent more than $3K on any of my conversions but that would be way too restrictive. I'm just going for a different audience than the one that likes to read about someone who buys a TCI chassis and a Fiberglass '32 Ford body and pays someone to put it together for them and then adds a $7K paint job. When I go to car shows it's just one cookie cutter hot rod after another. I get bored with the '68 Camaros with 6-71 blowers and wonder if there are enough people who do also and would buy a magazine to help relieve this boredom. Also, I hope there are people out there who would like to have something different and have more time than money, like me. One common focus (maybe even a monthly column) would be how to insure that you can finish what you start. How to stay motivated when you are tempted to just sit on the garage floor and stare at it (not that there is no time or place for that).

That is cool.
Also, I'd definetly subscribe to that mag, sounds like exactly what I'm into.
A magazine with a swap thats detailed enough to do it yourself, that sound great! Even if someone didn't subscribe to do each and every swap, reading them for fun and keeping them on file for the possible future is just as good. Let me know if this happens, I'll buy the first one, heh.
