I have the same question.
What I have found so far is that the GM/LS1 AC compressor don't work with the Vintage Air system. They have some brackets for their Sanden compressor that will fit in the original Camaro LS1 position but that will interfer with the subframe, pretty much as the GM compressor will.
Vintage Air is supposed to have a bracket that will mount it high, I don't know how that will look or so. Then there is the question if it is a Camaro or Corvette setup. There is a difference in the belt position (how far from the front of the block) between the two.
Hope to find more info.

I'm going to try to use the complete A/C system out of my donor car. Quick measurements say it will fit under my '73 dash though I'll have to get rid of the glove box.

I've been researching this also for my 78 t/a conversion. There's a ton of info on the pro-touring.com site about this. Go to:
http://69.94.75.177/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=25
If you look through some of the threads, some of the guys have posted extremely detailed instructions on installing the vintage air system, with lots of pictures.
(note that pro-touring.com moved and they haven't gotten the DNS fully up yet, which is why there's an IP address there ...)
