With the Impala tank, would the stock straps just not fit?
Did you have to cut the frame anywhere for it to fit?

I'm interested in case my modified stock tank doesnt' work out.

Lookin' good stay motivated!

I used a the impala strap because it has the cross support. With the plastic tank i think this will hold it a little better. I trimmed less than 1/2" only in the very rear where the frame goes back to a C and is not boxed anymore. I only trimmed a small piece, really nothing like I thought it was going to be.

Well I've been slowly getting more work done. My wiring harness is almost finished. I had to convert it from an auto to manual and remove the A/C, AIR, EVAP and extra O2's.

Here is a pick in progress:

Covan's Classic Dash installed:

I already had the oil pressure and water temp. I am sending them back to Autometer for new needles so they match all the new gauges.

I thought this pic was cool:

Got some parts in the mail yesterday.
Jeg's X kit:

Well I got some fun stuff in the mail yesterday. My afternoon turned into hanging shelves in the garage, because of the lack of work area. Hopefully I can get back to my clutch bracket tonight.

Got new springs all around and spring adjusters for the front:

I love getting parts in the mail. It is always fun opening them. It's just paying for them I don't like. Working on pricing fuel lines now and it quickly added up to $500.

Stealth,

Are the black springs supposed to be for the rear? 68-72 A-body springs had pigtails at both ends. Are you doing something special to be able to use the springs in the picture?

You don't need the top pig tail, just the one for the axle. Dennis and I have been running single pig tails for a while now. Many guys do.

When installing the single pig tail just make sure that the spring is centered around the top where the pig tail would usually go

Stealth..... What rates did you go with and where/how much did those springs run you? I'm gonna up my rates over winter me thinks.

Matt,

Thats good to know. There is a large selection of single pig-tail springs that are available.

I ended up getting 750# front and 175# rears. I picked them up from Coleman for $58 each. Shipping was fast.

I will try these for now. What rates are you currently running? Do you have any front suspension mods? I am thinking about the SC&C stage II, but motor parts are higher on the list. I wanted to get the springs and adjusters becasue I figured it would be riding a little high in the front after removing the A/C and the LS1 placed so far back.

650 up front and 175's in the rear.

Thoughts on my combo... Rear is insanely soft it seems, front is about right for a stiffer daily driver.

I'm gonna go with 1000 and 250's I think... As far as front suspension mods, just springs/adjusters, konis, and poly sway bar bushings. I'm going to do plated lowers, adjustable uppers and coleman spindles this winter. Along with a 3 link in the rear.

Well I might be upping the rear rate as well after it's on the road. Any specific plans for the 3-link? That is why I originally tore my car down, but decided to replace the power plant and do major suspension surgery later.

Hey Stealth, I'm doing this swap (but 4L60) in my '72 Chevelle. Have you found anywhere in Orlando that has old A-body's laying around? I've only seen one at a junk yard on Colonial but it had a semi's frame on top of it...

mmm, 3 link.. panhard... make my own uppers and lowers, make my own mounts for the rear end side top link. lol. descriptive hey?!

Yes I'm cutting the rear floor, Yes I'm gonna try and save the rear bench seat, and I'm gonna try my hardest to keep tail pipes with a nice length panhard bar.

LS1Heavy - I have never seen a Chevelle in a yard around here.

Matt - Have you seen this project: www.iimuchfabrication.com

Sweet 3-link. I bought a stack of suspension design books I started reading. Lots to learn.
