72 c/10 ls-1 install?
I have a 99 ls-1 out of an ss camaro. I'm installing it in a 72 chevy pickup. I copied S&P motor mounts but my oil pan hits my cross member. I talked with S&P but they said they have never installed an ls-1 in that year model and to e-mail pictures. I know someone has put this motor in this year model frame with the S&P mounts. Any info will be appreciated. Thanks

yea, where is it hitting? I used the truck pan but am swapping for a camaro pan I made my own mounts so it will fit.
look here http://www.hotrodlane.cc/Oil%20pans/...asurments.html for the differences in the pans.
Oh yea the truck one is not there but compared to the camaro one the 11 3/4 is shorter maybe 8 inches and the 5 1/2 is taller to about 8 1/2 inches. The front of the pan is shallower if you look at the 3 inch dimension it is much higher almost flat starting at the front. I hope this helps, I bet you need to get the truck pan, windage tray and pickup tube this should solve the problem. post a picture if you can on where it is hitting.

My buddy has a 72 Chev shorty with an LS1/60e combo in and running. Stock camaro pan cleared fine. They did build their own engine mounts though.... just get the engine in, centered and level(without the bolts holding the plates to the crossmember) tac the mounts in place, pull combo out and drill new holes.

I used the Camaro pan in mine, and mount plates...the pan fits fine, but it absolutely will not come out of the truck without the engine or transmission coming with it, so here's hoping I never need to pull it
I think we did have to move the towers a bit to set the engine back a bit further, though.
