the firewall has been moved back about 6" along with a new tranny tunnel to fit the 700R4 tranny. I have to build one more header and get a flexplate/ spacer then I can bolt it down for good. here is a pic of the modified firewall and tranny tunnel. I tried to get the engine as far back and low as posssible to improve the handling. custom wiring harness should be here this week. also pics of header and fuel pump.

Runs good
Sorry I haven't been back to update in quite a while been out enjoying the car. I got it all together and had it insured for the begining of July. What a blast to drive vs the old 350. The engine is very civil at lower speeds but if you take it over 3K it really gives new meaning to hang on. I have driven this car every dry day possible attending show and shines and just crusing around Calgary. I have put about 5000K since insuring it. It will be getting new paint this winter. If anyone from Calgary has seen me say hi.

I really like the Datsun 510.
That thing is sure to be sick when all is said and done.
Do you plan on mini-tubbing it or are you going to make do with the tiny tires (or maybe widebody?)?

Not my car....reference to the original posting. Progress on LS motors in 510's. Just looking at the pic, doesn't look to me like they moved the firewall/set the motor back. Those that I've seen usually have the back of the motor under the cowl....not the case with this one.
