Default What LS based dash in my 70 Chevelle??

I was originally planning on doing a SS dash w/ AutoMeters which is still a possibility. But this car is going to be a mix of old and new. I'm using this car to really show off my customization. Now I feel a C6 dash if molded in nicely would fit in w/ my project since the plan is for C6 Z06 rims, C6 Z06 brakes, LS2, etc... Well I'm thinking I want to put a newer LS based car dash in the Chevelle. What do you think would be best? Camaro would be cheapest but I love the C5/C6 clusters.

firebird
i have this dash in my car, even tho it was originally a v6 camaro
now its a carburated 414 ci LSx with a firebird dash and 9 in rear
looks like an lt1 camaro' with the trans am seats and dash
i have always preferred the T/A interior also the ac vents are perfect for autometer gages
still in the works though

i like the vette dash. it looks a bit less cluttered than the others. i like the idea of riding in a new car but getting out of an old one. there is kind of a modern retro feel to the vette dash and you have a place for a video monitor in their if you chose to use it.

If I go the C5 or C6 route it will have HUD and have a 8" monitor hooked up to a full Windows CarPC so I will have HP Tuners on there, MP3's, DVD's, internet, etc...

I have a CarPC with HPTuners... no gauges. The only thing I miss right now is an odometer.

The main limitation with hptuners is that it stops after 50000 frames, which translates to roughly one hour of driving... you have to click a button to get it started again - definitely not for everybody. But you get full data logging, and any parameter you want to monitor.

I personally prefer the stock classic dash and door panels with new guages, seats, radio, etc, but if you are capable, the C6 interior is gorgeous. The C5 interior doesn't even compare.

I would go c6 or gto, the gto dash and counsole would probably flow better due to being a similar seating layout.

definitely the c6... i dont like the 3 big temp control ***** or the big e-flashers button on the gto dash, and the f-body dash might be a little plain for a chevelle.. the c6 dash is clean-cut and refined.. perfect for a '70 chevelle... do you have pics of your car/ project, im really interested

I'm curious how the Corvette dashes compare width wise to the Chevelle. Seems the Chevelle would be wider and you will have to fill in space on the sides. But that is just a guess on my part.

I've wanted to do this exact thing when I start my Chevelle project (one day) with a GTO Dash. I'd love to see pics if you do this.

i'd go custom dash with c5 cluster. that's my plan for my 79 TA. the c5 and c6 cluster look about the same to me, and i think the c5's are cheaper and more plentiful. I got mine for < $100.

Thumbs down sigh

Sorry but it is a bit over the top for a 70. To me it would look a lot better with a custom dash or just reface the original with aftermarket gauges.

Default Dash

I really like the look and ergonomics of the C6 Dash.

At the SEMA show, I saw a "re-bodied" C6 that had a "62-ish" Vette exterior. It really looked sharp.

The F-Body dash/instruments have been done a couple of times in 69 camaro's and look good.

Considering your Z06 suspension/wheels/brakes, etc, I'd stick with your theme!
