Project '98 S-10 drag truck....Roll cage UPDATE!!
Hey guys, Starting to convert my '98 S-10 into a full out drag truck. Just gonna post up a few pics if you guys are interested. I had already swapped a '95 LT1 into it, but that got boring!
Here's what I started with...
This is just a start....
There's WAY more to come in the near future. Next is the roll cage! Then I'll see what i can do about that engine and trans.

There's a place here where I live called "ROTAN" the do it yourself garage. It has everything you can imagine for working on cars..hoists, welders, every tool imaginable... it's awesome. I wouldn't know what to do without Rotan. lol
As or my rear end setup.... it's a Ford 9" narrowed, 35 spline Moser axles with a strange nodular iron center section holding my 4.56 gears.

I don't really have a race weight goal... this thing is heavy!! last year it was 3900lbs with me in it and a full tank of gas!! I'm pretty much trying to just do my best and lighten up anything that I can, and see where it gets me. And as for the coilovers... this was a setup I bought from S&W racecars. An S-10 4Link conversion kit.. If I remember correctly, they are 100# springs with the QA1 12pt adjustable coilover shocks. It's a beautiful setup, and It's gonna work great!
And thanks Switchblade...It will be better once the LS1 is at home in my truck...but I already have the LS1 block, and my plans are to supercharge it anyways. I think that might help the most!

I realized something this weekend..... my truck has been sitting covered outside for like a month now, and i never did paint the Ford 9" rear housing. This is what I had to deal with.
So, with a little bit of motivation, about $25, and 4 hours of work total... this is what I ended up with.
Looks a lot better. I used the Tremclad "Hammerd metal" spray paint, and It works awesome. here's a picture of the finish up close.

Yeah, the paint came out even better than I thought it would. As for the place where i do the work at, they charge by the hour. a regular bay is $10 and hour, a hoist is $15 an hour...this includes all the hand tools you can shake a stick at. They charge for the use of welders and torches, but it's cheaper if you have a bay already.
In fact, for those of you who know of Roman Littman (RomanSS), and Taner Bosnali. These guys are the owners and operators of this place here in Windsor. all this stuff you ask should be explained on their website at: www.rotandiygarage.com
They sell parts, tires, pretty much everything you need to get your project finished.

That is a sweet truck. I still like the older body design more. I would love to have an LS1 powered S10 for the street but no money. What rims are you goin' to run?
