Default TT Chevelle went to the drag strip. Update.

I ran it Tuesday, but had some more problems. Good news is nothing broke, bad news is that I ran out of gear.
All runs were on 93 octane, and my cars has a 3850 lb raceweight. I made 2 passes with only 10 psi and went 10.80 @ 130 even on both passes. Went through the traps at about 6600 rpm.
I reset the boost up to 18 psi and ran out of gear, I had it set to 10 psi in 1st gear, 12 psi in second, and 18 psi in 3rd with the E-boost.
Due to a bad launch and having to pedal it the pass was pretty bad. I launched with a 1.90 60', my 1/8 mile was a 7.0@112, and my quarter was 10.55@ 138.
1.9 seconds before I tripped the clocks, I ran out of gear and was on the rev limiter at 7000 rpm till I let off right before I finished, hit the brakes just as I crossed the traps. The car sounded like it had gunshots coming out the tail pipes and was blowing flames out the tailpipes also! I luckily have it on video so I was able to time exactly when I first hit the rev limiter to when I actually finished the pass.
I was pretty dissapointed that I did not get to see how much power the car put to the ground by my trap speed.

I need to get some 3.08 gears for my 3 series carrier and some new tires. I have 3.42's now but did not count for converter efficiency. I also am trying new tires seeing that I has to try to keep the car straight the entire pass!

I hope the 3.08 gears are not weaker then my 3.42's, the ring gear is much thinner. I guess I will see.

Thats great for the first time out. A little taller gear and you should be able to hit low 10`s no problem. Can I borrow a a few HP next weekend? I need to cut about a second off my ET so I can outrun a Magnum SRT8 wagon. How tall of tires are you running, mabey you could just get a 30.5 or 31" tall tire instead of changing gears.

Well if you run a taller set of drag tires you could get away without changing the gear. If you run a 28" tire it would be equivalent to running a 3.08 gear, and a 31" tire would be equivalent to changing to a 2.73 gear. Plus a larger diameter tire puts more rubber on the ground when you launch .

Impressive to say the least.... Looks like 9's are in your future once you get the gearing issue resolved....

Taller tires for sure.

That is a great mph for the octane that you are running!

This is the stock ECM with tuning I assume? Speed Density tune?

I run the stock tank with a sump, I run 315/35/17 drag radials, and I hpe to have a complete pass in a week or two with the new gears.

nice mph nitro..........for those who do not know the car, it's not a drag car, it just has drag car power! lol. the 3.08's will give you better EPA and you can still keep your street car rims. i hope that they can hold up to 1000HP though!!!
