Do a search. Lots of guys here have 2nd gen swapped f-bodies, including myself. Pretty straight forward swap, really, and everything that applies to a 1st gen will appy to a second as well, but you wont need to notch the oil pan. More info can also be found at nastyz28.com in the high tech retrofit section.

I am also in the process of putting a carbed LS1 into my 1970 Firebird.

So, the oilpan does not need to be notched for an LS1 to go into a 2nd Gen Fbod?

What oil pan will fit, the standard 4th Gen Fbody one? Will a truck pan fit?

A standard 4th Gen LS1 F-Body oil pan will fit. The truck pan will kinda fit, it will physically fit, but it will hang down under the crossmember, so I would not recommend using it. Having an oilpan that hangs below the crossmember offers no protection against impact and is not something you want on a street vehicle.
