Aftermarket oil pans

I saw one after market pan (steel).. the owner was not pleased with it due to it being so thin around the mounting area it also being wrapped.
It was a earlier pan (maybe Autokraft?).. I don't recall and have not seen him in a while..so don't ask what it was... just a word to take a good look at it before you buy.

I have the Autokraft pan in my LS1 powered s10 blazer and I like it so far. It comes with the pickup and has a reinforcing rail all the way around the pan mount. It also retains the factory oil filter location with a bolt-on billet adapter. ground clearance will not be a issue, I have to notch my cross member for the kickouts but I think when used in a earlier GM chassis this won't be and issue.

I had Canton Make me a custom pan. I wanted a pan That would hold 6 qts. I sent them the dimentions, and they made it to thoses specs.
The down sides of this... They DONT do any thinking as far as how much oil will be in the pan. I told them I wanted 6 qts. in the pan,(and if it wasnt going to hold that, to give me a call) and they built it to my specs, which turned out to be about 5qts. I had to go threw a bunch of BS to get them to build me the pan I wanted.
The second pan was perfect. I had to send them new specs, and they did the same thing, they built it to my specs. The pan holds 6.5 qts. The only thing I dont like about the pan is the flange area. I would have ratter had it be made out of a thick piece of billet AL.
Oh, the pan they advertise as a swap pan, on thier web site, is my first pan. It holds 5 qts (in the pan). They advertise it as holding 6.5, but they figure with the filter. There is also some fitting issuse. The front outside edges of the sump is really close to the frame. I thought it was funning they used my first pan, and not the second one that fits really well.

Nothing beats a OEM pan... Unless you're doing hardcore corner racing. Then I'd probably go with the ATS pan, as it seems to have alot of baffling and trap doors...

I live in Vegas and has seen the ATS pan in person and while it was being welded... They pan has great baffling, nice flange and beautiful TIG welds... The started powdercoating them in clear and would almost rather hang one on my wall then hide it under the car...
