Default Location of cats

How close do catylitic converters need to be to exhaust port or end of exhaust manifold.
Thanks

Here you go

for best emissions, you want it as close and you can get it to the exhaust manifold. You just need to save room for the O2 sensor to be before the cat.
There is no formula... the closer the better. You do want to put the O2 sensor at a similar distance from the exhaust ports as the factory.

Are you running pre-cats to, or just main cats?

Thats funny!!!! Yeah you want the cats as close as possible so that they will heat up quickly. They are worthless until they are hot.

Why not give Newman a call. They build these all the time.

Actually, and you can call me crazy stupid or both, I am choosing to run Cats.
No I don't have a Algore sticker on my bumper.
My reasons are I want car a little quieter than I'm getting w/ my Hooker turbo mufflers and the Cat will serve this function I think. They also eliminate some of the exhaust smell from the unburnt hydrocarbons. And they result in minimal decrease in performance. So shoot some holes in this rationale.

there are no holes in that rationale.

The only reason I'm not running them is because I have no room, and I don't want them hanging outside of the car.

The Cats seem to have done the job.(Dynatech minicats). Car has nice rumble at idle and WOT sounds healthy, but not screaming.
