Default Oil Pressure Gauge Sender Location

Where are you getting your oil pressure info from, what part
of the engine is your sender (if using sender) located and did you have to
modify anything to make it work?

I removed the factory LSx sender from behind the manifold and put my sending unit there. I had to use a metric to american adapter, but there were no other modifications.

We drilled and tapped the hole in the bypass plate and ran copper tubing to the mechanical gauge. Almost an afterthought, took about 10 minutes.

does the pcm rely on inputs from the stock coolant and oil pressure sensors?

what ill effects come from replacing these senders with aftermarket ones?

I ask because I am chasing down my low oil pressure problems,
and got under the car last night to start taking everything
apart AGAIN, and noticed an oil leak. I have the same set up as SMAX
where I used the old stock sender and drilled it out. But got to thinking
that maybe since it was leaking there it might be giving me false readings
also????? Anyway I thought one place might be better than another.
So I have re-built my oil sender device, but have not checked to see
if this is the culprit, betting it isn't.
NISMOSILVA270R......In my set up there is no provisions of any
kind to monitor the oil in any way with the PCM, either oil pressure
or oil level.

im sorry i meant in general.

id like to use the factory locations with aftermarket senders/gauges, but i dont want to be throwing codes or run improperly (limp mode).

Coolant is monitored I'm assuming to turn on the fans.
Other than that its all the important stuff like crank, cam,
maf, air temp sensors that should be on a 'take out' engine.

Coolant is more than just for fans. it also lets the PCM know the engines temp for one of many variables for fuel and timing. Its a very important part of the electronics really.

thats what i needed to know. ill throw my sender in elsewhere. maybe upper rad hose, or hidden in a heater hose.

after reading this:
https://ls1tech.com/forums/generation-iii-external-engine/74931-water-temp-gauge-install-questions.html
i see that there is a location opposite the factory location.
Ill run them both throught each of the heads

Put your aftermarket temp sender in the passenger side head at the back. Theres a plug there, pull it and install your sender. You might need the metric adapter though.
