almost ready to begin the caddy swap
shortly i will be installing my LS swap into my 78 caddy deville
here's my take on using a truck motor in a car if you have to swap to the car intake for clearance: buy a car motor to begin with.
5300 - great deal versus buying an LS1....
but when you add in:
car intake $50
car fuel rails $60
car injectors $60
car coils $100
F body oil pan, pickup, tray $210(at employee pricing, bend over for list price)
2007 truck water pump to be able to clear TB $160(same as above)
F body exhaust manis $60
the only plus now is that for the price range i am in(damn close to 2 grand in motor alone) i have a 40k mile engine instead of one with 100k, but stuff adds up quick
there is still the uncertainty on if i will need to buy the idler pulley relocation bracket, keeping the truck accessories. i think i've found a free way to get around that but will not know until it is in the car.
anyway this is where i'm at right now:
the good news is i get to off the anemic 180hp smogger 425 with it's quadrajunk, swap the th400 for an overdrive to keep the RPM back down where i want with my new way deeper rear gears, and have the non-crappy operation of EFI
