Default using autometer 5291 for vss input?

Has anyone succesfully used an autometer 5291 hall affect sender as an input for vss signal to the ecm? in my swap its not easy nor do i want to run a reluctor wheel type vss and was wondering if anyone has used the auto meter type senders to tell the ecm how fast the vehichle is going? I know the autometer sender puts out a square wave signal and i believe the factory vss uses a sine wave signal not sure if the two are compatable or what? any and all input is greatly apreciated -thx neil

A factory VSS puts out a sine wave signal that then gets converted to square wave inside the pcm.

so i take it the computer can accept a square wave signal? it must be a sine wave in order for the ecm to read it ?

I have a 200-4R and you can't put a reluctor or any type of factory VSS on it.

Right now, I am running a carb, but I will probably get the VSS from Jagsthatrun when I go back to injection, which will be soon.

I believe so. Thats the one I am going to order. Let me know if you have problems getting it to work. You will probably get yours ready before I do.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you can get around having a VSS Signal if you go to a SD tune, You will be working off the engine RPM's and will not need a VSS input. You can also do away with the MAF by going SD. Just a though.

Hate to hijack your thread, but I would like to find out if this is correct. I am going to be using a SD tune, and if I didn't have to have a VSS signal it sure would make my life much easier.
