Default Which stalk switch for CC and ETC???

I've been reading through all the posts that I can about cruise control stalk switches and I'm still confused. I have ETC on my swap and have the urge to intall CC. So is the switch I need a 4 wire normally open switch? I've read that a switch from 80's or earlier GM will work? How do I know if the switch is normally open or normally closed?

Here is the switch that I would like to use because it's a factory one http://www.classicheartbeat.com/cata...h%20cruise.htm but I'm not sure it will work.

I've also seen someone link to these http://www.brandondist.com/products/OE_style.htm will the early GM Switch through 81 be the correct one?

Thanks in advance,

Bill

A normally open cruise control switch is what you need. However, you need one from mid 80's and NEWER, not older. The early cars only had SET as a switch function, the later cars added SET/COAST, RESUME/ACCEL, and ON/OFF as individual functions, and that's what you need for your system. You second link has several choices that look like they would work fine.

I used the 84-90 GM switch and it works great. I shaved off the washer control fin and glued the windshield wiper control in place because I did not need that. I have a '79 steering column and it fits in just fine, though the CC switch is pointed somewhat away from me instead of towards me or to the top. If you get a used one, be sure to check all the switches with a meter first. The first switch I had had one flaky switch and it took me a while to figure that out (thanks for your help John!)
