hooker headers in an "A" body(chevelle)
i went ahead and ordered hooker headers and their mount kit-was able to get them locally to match mail order price
i pulled the motor and took off the other mounts (they used the bottom mm bolt into the block, for ref.) the new mtg. kit moves the motor back a little more-pass head is 1 1/2" from firewall, d/s is 2 1/2"
i stuck my dummy 4l80e back on, and have minor interference with the floor, a little heat and hammering and it will be perfect (looks like a turbo 400 would fit great, 4l65e good also) but i have a 4l80e, and its stronger
i bolted on the headers, after years of putting on non fitting headers, they hit a home run with these-beautiful fit everywhere, tuck up tight, dont hit the frame anywhere-the only thing im gonna do is weld on a collector flange
dont know why they are slip type, but no big deal-i will sand blast them and send them up the street to get coated
i will need to modify the x member to move the mtg to the frame forward, or just make a new one
should have my cts pan tomorrow, see how it fits

Only problem with the Hookers seems to be that they're on the small side when it comes to tube diameter.
Fine for a LS1/LS2 stock swap, but anyone with mods or a stroker will almost certainly want the 1 7/8 tubes.
I am told the F-body Super Comps fit the 68-72 cars with no issues. I'm waiting to score a set for mockup..

so youre not giving up ? thats good .my 4l80 fits as well so far , the biggest issue looks to be where the coolant lines exit the trans .your body guy , does a lot on old cars ? having trouble finding someone in n. y. thanks JOHN

the super comps for an f body, is that a gen 1 camero, or the "new" f body style? would be neat to try a set while the cars apart
its a 69 chevelle, im the body man, painter, engine builder, trans builder (sometimes) fabricator, beer drinker
one thing i did years ago was install a lift in my garage, best investment i ever made-we must have pulled 30-40 bodies off frames with that thing
hope my oil pan arrives tomorrow, after that gotta jump on my other chevelle, got a little grudge match coming up, gonna turn up the boost and hope it sticks
