Default Putting LS2 in 2000 Firebird

I am looking to take out a 3800 motor in my 2000 firebird and put in a LS2 motor. I am trying to do it in steps. Can i keep my existing transmission and rear end? Will the transmission be able to last a summer? I know it won't be optimal for the performance end, but i was wondering if i can hold on with that for an other year. I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts for me. Thanks.

Rear end will be fine, but I don't think you can keep the tranny. I believe they are different...but I can't remember for sure.
