Default Cooling Problem

I put a 5.3 in a 76 nova i am using a stock radiator and a electric cooling fan. I was using a stock termostat but the car keep getting to hot about 230 then i would have to shut it down. So i got a SLP 160 installed that drove around the block still runs hot 225 what am i doing wrong? The fan is constantly on. Is there anyway to bleed the air out of the system if there is any. I am new to these types of motors. Any help please.

Yes, you might have a air trapped in the system. Drain and fill the engine 1st by filling it from the top radiator hose (disconnect from the radiator). Once it is filled, then reconnect the hose and top off at the radiator. This seems to be a common problem.
