85-5.7L into LS1 yes no?
Here's my problem I started a truck build two years ago. And the first thing I bought was the motor 85 5.7L 350. Now the project has evolved and a blown
350 isn't going to work with everything else. So instead of selling what I have
to buy a LS1,LS2,LS7 etc.Can I use my built 85 iron block to make a LS1
I know it's not aluminum and it wont really be an LS1 but it can appear to be
with a little modification right or wrong. Change intake, covers etc. I just
had that motor gone through 40 over forged everything cam gear drive all
the good stuff. Do not want to sell if possible.

Thanks for the info. Yeah I just want the look and was hoping I didnt have
to sell may motor and tranny to help with new drivetrain. I think Im
going to to use a 5.3L truck motor. That will give me the look I want
minus the aluminum block. Im having the motor painted before
install so nobody should know the wiser.I found one with low miles
for 2500 with tranny still in truck runs like a champ. What do
you think about that conversion and the 5.3L motor itself?

LSx Heads go on LSx blocks. They aren't interchangable. Those things are what makes an LSx an LSx, in my opinion.
Then, you have the LSx-style intake, fuel injector set up and the coil packs -- one coil pack per plug per cylinder. but, you can put a carb intake on an LSx, and thus have an old school distributer as well, but it will still have LSx heads and block.
Just rambling. Already been answered.
