Default LSx Identification

I was thinking it'd be helpful if we compiled a list of all the different LSx motors with the basic specs and engine codes so that the newbies/uninformed, like myself, would know what they are looking for.

Just the basics like engine code, model years, bore and storke, compression maybe some pros and cons like known problems oh and also hp rating from the factory.

If this is already available point me in the right direction and somebody make a sticky of it.

That's a good start.

But, it's a little dated, lacking some info on the latest motors. Like the 6.2L L92's for example.

Wikipedia (suprise) also has a chunck of info on the LSx platform motors, which is fairly informative and accurate.

It seem many have started these types of lists many times before.. and many can be found on the internet by searching and some found on other forums.

This can be a never ending task of updating information if you do not complete it with every bit of information. Are you willing to keep a living document going for years to come ?
Not trying to discourage you, but you will be the owner of this document and there is always something to update from time to time... and as GM releases new updates to the GEN III and IV platform.

Thanks for the link, that helped alot. As for the becoming the keeper of the list thats not something id be able to do just felt as a forum we could add in any new knowledge and a moderator can easily update the thread as needed. Something like this is what i had in mind

'99-'04 4.8L LR4 Hp-xxx Tq-xxx Bore-xxx Stroke-xxx Compression-xx.x:x
'99-'04 5.3L LM7
'97-'04 5.7L LS1
'99-'04 6.0L LQ4
'02-'04 6.0L LQ9

Nothing real complex just basic info to help guide in choosing the right motor and with the above link and others you can find the more in depth information.
