Default LS1 into a Tiburon.Been done?

OK guys...the girlfriend wont listen when I tell her that sheo should just buy an SS. No she wants the motor from my TA WS6 in her Tiburon. Its a good looking car and all but thats a lot of work, convert to rear wheel drive, fab trans mounts, fab front suspesion ect. I think it would be cool to see. Does anyone know of someone already ding something of this sort?

There was a thread on here a while back where someone did an LS1/RWD swap on a Honda Civic... that's the closest I've seen.

Your gonna drop a lot of money into this to have a not so desirable car. Better off selling the 'Buron and getting something already RWD that she likes.

If you have the funds available it would be interesting to see the car when finished. If that's what she wants, you could learn how to do the swap together. Just be sure to do research and determine an estimated cost for the project. Good luck.

You could always test drive an SS and see if that changes her mind

She could always use the LS3 or whatever that comes in the Grand Prix that was offered and use the FWD architecture.

Some really good ideas...Id really like to see it done, but I dont want to take time from my projects to work on something like that. My hopes are that when the new Camaro comes out Ican get her to take a test drive...then trade in the Tiburon...then its win win cause she will have a car that I want to drive Thanks for the input.

For the amount of money you'll spend on that, get a 93-95 RX7 and swap that. BEAUTIFUL chassis, great handling, and can be done for less money then that Tiburon swap.

Tiburon's also will have a RWD setup coming out in the next year too. Could wait until that 'genesis' platform arrives and use those parts on the swap. I agree though, way more money and time than its worth.

Hmmm put an LS1 into a Tiburon? I think what you should do first is take a large glove and fill it with pennies, tie it off, and then with a great deal of velocity slap your face with it. That or take about $10K and burn it in a firepit.

The Tiburon replacement that is either out or coming out is now rear wheel drive.

LMAO, That's funny ****. Some people try stuff that is just more work than it's worth.

I would stick with the rx7 idea, or something else.

Yeah. That swap wouldn't even cross my mind. Those cars don't even look that good. Thats like putting $10,000 into a Chevette. You still got a Chevette.

Hmm.... Could be pretty neat but sounds like alot of work and cash... Kinda like the Rx-7 swap myself, but it would be very unique

I would love an RX7 swap...now looking into an LS4 or Supercharged 3800 conversion but an RX7 would be great!

I'm thinking that the LS1 would grenade itself from sheer shame. RX7 is at least feasible, the Tiburon (no offense) is just NOT a good idea...

(Unless for some reason you want a tube-chassis money-pit...)
