Default Duramax in an F-Body

I know it sounds redneck, but honestly I don't give a SH#* but I have a few questions.

Would it be able to fit in the engine bay. I was told that it is too tall so I figure put a big cowl hood on it. Custom exhaust. I know that just putting a stock duramax motor in there would require an immediate upgrade of tranny and rearend.(Obviously) It would be crazy to have over 600lbft. of torque at 2K rpm. New fuel lines would have to be run because it is diesel.

The power potential would be crazy. Just a programmer and those things fly.
Little mods and those diesels really come alive.

All this stuff would cost tons of $$$$.

I just want to know if this would work.

It might become a future project depending on if it can be done.

I really want to do this in the future, so don't hate about $$ or do this or do that instead.

The Duramax is a very large engine in all directions. Not certain a cowl hood would make it better. What would you do about the oilpan? Mine holds 10qt of oil, and has a funny shape. I would love to see it, but I am not having an easy time envisioning the beast fitting in an F-Body. Maybe in an older B body with no hood...

You'd have to relocate the turbo. There's no way in it's stock location it would fit under the cowl. I'm sure if you had teh patience and the money it could be done.

Haven't seen one in an F-body, but Duramax into a G-body has been done:

Here's the build story for it:

I think you would have to shitcan the whole front end, because of width and last, weight.
That would be cool *** **** thought, nitrous, turbo preps, injectors. 800 hp, 1200ft/lbs of torque.

ALISON! I don't get phenominal milage out of mine, but I do enjoy the power. You would want a rather sturdy rear, and of course an understanding of how a diesel works, but it would be an incredible swap. I would still be a bit concerned about the size of the package, but a good fabricator can fit anything into anything.

You also have to consider the weight of the duramax... looking at complete new front suspension to hold it. I would LOVE to see this... maybe the smaller one going into the 1/2 ton pickups would fit better?

If you are talking about that white 'vette I'm pretty sure they dubbed the sound of a diesel over the actual car. That one was causing quite a stir though.

Wow, that would be insane if someone would make it work. However, I would save duramax for a tank of a car like a 78 Mercury Marquis or something lol!

If you have enough anlge iron, steel plate and a stick welder you can install anything in an F body. How about a straight axle in the front like an old '60s style gasser?? This is closer in concept to the stuff the Blastolene guys build.

I bet the car would handle nice with an extra 10,000lbs on the front wheels.
