Default 2006 5.3 harness conversion

I want to convert my 5.3 drive by wire harness from a 2006 Tahoe to stand alone. I have the complete factory harness and ECM along with the 4L60E trans. I have tried a search and come up with a lot of info but not much on the later models. I have no problem reading wiring diagrams or doing the work I just basicly need to know what to keep and what to take out, what needs power and when.
here is my setup
2006 5.3 in a 50 chevy truck

. retain drive by wire function
. remove rear O2 sensors
. remove any other emission controls not needed
. a/c clutch will be controlled by vintage air system
. fans could be controoled by ECM or aftermarket contoller

if there are any books or resources availible I would appreciate the info

thanks

you can check out alldatadiy.com
there you can get access to the factory manual for $25 for a year. See if that helps out any.
Might try current performance wiring also, they have a fuse/relay module for the stand-alone stuff that we have used a few times, works pretty good.

G-body also has a lot of helpful diagrams and drawings. He's been very helpful to me!

Good luck,

Also, you'll need to reprogram your ECM or send it off to someone to do it for you. They will remove VATS and smog error codes, correct tire size and gear ratio, etc. A few guys have recommended Wait4Me Performance (member here). He will reprogram your ECM for only $75. He will convert your harness and reprogram your ECM for $300.

Good luck,
Yes I am sending my ECM to Jessie. $75 plus free upgrades when needed.

I have the wiring printout with pin locations and functions for a 2006 5.3 Tahoe if someone needs them I could scan them. our dealership group owns a chevy dealer also.

The schematics are intimidating the first time you start to modify a harness. When I did mine, I spent a week on it. The last two I did, took under 8 hours from start to finish. Replacing bad connectors will usually take more time than anything else. It's not hard, but just make sure you double check, before you CUT.

I have a 2006 tahoe 5.3 and have a starter system short. When turn key to start it pops the crank fuse. Do you have a wiring diagram?
