1993 Cadillac STS 5.3 swap
I am toying with the idea of swaping a 5.3 from a 2003 chevy truck into a 1993 Cadillac STS in place of the Northstar 4.6; the 4.6 is a DOHC V8. I have seen alot of swaps using the 4.6 into Fbodies and older cars using the 4L60, so I think the STS trans will bolt up. Does anyone have any info on this swap idea?

Have you taken a look at just building the Northstar? There is a surprising amount of speed equipment made for them. They are very popular in Sandrails and I have even seen several traditional hot rods with them in a rear engine configuration. Those motors will make a lot of power.
Just trying to figure out what you would really gain by all the trouble of swapping the 5.3 into it.

i think when it comes down to it, the amount of parts and the price- kinda make the northstar less desirable tha a LSX engine, Northstars are sick dont get me wrong but bang for the buck, LSX wins hands down, not to mention the tranny you have is cpapable of handling some decent power. 4t80-e?

The northstar is really a pain, Look around and see how many motors you see for sale in junkyards. I have 2 at my house right now and both of them need motors. One has 76K and one has 134K. I am looking for a low cost alternative to getting both running. I love the style and performance, but the DOHC engine(VIN 9) is hard to work on. I have several 5.3 2002-2003 engines in the shop and would love to go that route.
