Default Car starts for a few seconds and dies.

Thanks for thoes who have got me this far. The car is a 71 chevelle with a turbo ls1. When i try to fire this baby up it runs for any where from 1 to 4 seconds. I dont know my fuel pressure because im waitinig for my gauge to get here. but my fpr has a setting from 20-70 psi so i have it turned almost all the way open at 70. I would guess its at about 50-60. All my sensors are pluged in except for 1 of my 02 sensors because it dosent reach, i will be getting a extension soon. ANyone have any ideas of what this could be? Thanks for all the help guys

I installed a LS1 in an older vette, and had the same problem. It would start and run for about 5-7 seconds.I finally had to have the ECM reprogramed for the second time. Some type of secerity had to be elemitated, so i was told. Afraid there is a lot about the ECM I don't understand.

Also to clear things up. Sometimes when i turn the key it runs for anywhere from 2 seconds to 5. Its different everytime. Im guessing its fuel problem?

Will it stay running if you give it some throttle? I know that sometimes if I have my battery disconnected long enough it will forget the idle and I will have to give it enough gas to keep it running and slowly back off over a couple minutes.
VATS does sound like a possibility though.

Let me take a wild guess. You do not have a MAF hooked up?

mine did the same thing until I plugged my MAF in.

Well are you setup for speed density? What did your harness start out as? My harness was a truck harness and ran it with a maf for 2 years but went to Speed Density this year. Got rid of my MAF and added the syclone IAT sensor and harness. Then the ecu has to get programmed for the car to even run.

If it was originally programmed by Jess @ wait4me, then chances are real good that it is already setup for speed density.

If your not running s/d (and 99 stock harness, your not) you need to hook up the MAF, but it HAS to be incorporated in the air intake. Mine freaked out when I tried that! So the easiest thing to do to see if it would run was to duct tape the MAF to the throttle body, ghetto as hell but it worked.
