Default What am I doing wrong? MIL light issue.

I took the brown/white wire coming off the PCM (2005 5.3L engine) and wired that to one side of the light on the dash. The other side of the light was wired to a 12V feed. When I turn the ignition on the light never comes on. Shouldn't it come on upon startup? The only time the light has ever come on was when I tried to start the engine with a weak battery. It came on and only went away when I charged the battery and started the engine. Any help getting this to work will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You are using connector C2- Pin 46 correct?

The only other brn/wht wire in the harness is cam sensor signal wire. There are some tan/white that could be confused, such as delivered torque signal..

Verify C2 (Green Connector in the 2005) pin 46.

I have noticed on my swap (2004 harness/pcm) that sometimes the MIL will stay OFF if I shut engine off and quickly turn key back on. If I leave the key off for about 30 seconds, then key back on, it will light untill I start the engine.

I'll verify, but I'm about 90% sure I'm using pin 46 on the green connector. Could this feature be disabled through a PCM tune?

I don't belive so...usually just the diagnostic gets disabled...

kind of funny...pcm will set a code if it doesnt see the MIL light...I guess you'd see it with a scan tool...

anyways..
