Default Guys using inline/external fuel pumps...what pump are you using?

I am considering buying the aeromotive A1000 pump but it says that it pumps 600 lb/hr at 45 psi using a 13.5 volt system. I know that ls1's need pressure in between 53 and 63psi so how are guys running these pumps if ls1's require more psi?

Would i be able to to get more than 45 psi for the motor if i use the aeromotive regulater that is adjustable from 20 to 60psi even though the pump only puts out 45psi at 13.5 volts??? Someone help me out...i'm a newbee when it comes to this stuff.

Thanks ahead of time,

-Dre

Fuel pumps have a curve showing the relationship between fuel pressure and fuel volume. It may be rated 600 lb/h at 45psi, but it will do more volume at lower pressures and less volume at higher pressures. For example, with the GSL392 (which I run and many others do too):

The key is that the pump needs to be able to satisfy both the volume and the pressure at a given voltage. See if you can find a chart for the Aeromotive A1000.

i had talked to a guy at aeromotive about something like this a while back, because i am starting out with a carb, then may switch to f/i later-right now i have the a1000, he thought with a reg change i could get by, based somewhat on what injectors i use-if i was starting out with f/i, i prob would go to a higher pres pump-as said, pressure and vol have to both be there
i know the a1000 moves a lot of fuel, i had a stuck n/s on another with a carb, in seconds it hyd locked the motor

After much research. I decided to go with the weldon 600A. I hope I made the right choice. I Know alot of the EFI mustang guys run this pump. I will be installing it on my 32 ford pro street truck.

thanks for the responses guys...lt4malibu, i was also considering that pump but was asking about the A1000 because i could get a good deal on it. Looks like the 11106 is i deal for our swaps though, so maybe i'll look into that one. I was just trying to find a pump that would satisfy all the mods that i would ever do to my motor so i wouldn't have to worry about the fuel system anymore.

The reason why i say this is because my next combo after this one will involve a forged motor able to withstand a 250 to 300 dry shot of nitrous and i know that for a dry shot that big you need a lot of fuel and injector...So i was thinking the A1000 would be perfect for that with the new racetronix 80lb injectors.

I'll look into the other pumps you guys were using also.

What do you guys think about the Mallory Comp-110FI pump? It flows 100gph at 60psi with 12 volts.

Does anyone know roughly what 100gph would be if it were converter into lbs per hour? I'm finding that some companys use galoons per hour and others use pounds per hour.

The weldon 600A pump looks great for my future goals BTW.

I have the Weldon 600A on my car. For an external pump, it's a lot quieter than I expected.
