Default carb. and pcv valve

i am running a carb, and have an lq4 style engine-the pass side v/c has a tube pointing toward the front, and the d/s v/c has one in the back pointing straight up-how are you guys with carbs doing the pcv setup, i dont think the engine actually has one, just the vent tubes-on older engines, one of the v/c's was equiped with the pcv valve, the other one was the air inlet, usually from the aircleaner or a breather-does a gen 3 suck out of both v/c's?
