Got some time in last night.Main bearing clearances all came in between .0015 and .0019, so I cleaned everything again and got the crank in the block. With a thin film of assembly lube, the crank turns easily.

Sounds good on the bearing clearances. For my build I went with a stock crank micro polished, stock rods with forged mahle pistons all balanced and bored to 3.908(ls1 block). Clevite bearings and a ported and shimmed (by me) LS6 oil pump along with an ls2 timing chain. I also went ahead and milled the 241 heads down to a 60cc combustion chamber to make up for the 4cc valve reliefs in the mahles and threw in some new valves and dual springs. For a cam I went with a 228/228 .588/.588 on a 112 lsa. As for pictures and more details of my build which is still in the works check out my thread. https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...366&highlight=
Edit: What wheels are you running on your 65 and do you have any better pictures?, they look pretty nice from what I can see.

looks good, My dad has a 65 elky that I have been harassing him about dropping the 283 for a heads/cam combo LS1. He just won't budge on it though. I will say that the 283 suprised me with 285 rwhp, and just over 300 rwtq @3300 rpm, and there is just a mild portjob on the intake and heads, and a small cam and 600 cfm edelbrock carb. Is yours a 4 spd car or an auto?

Chevelle was a number matching 327ci/Powerglide SS. When I got it in 04', the Glide was dead, and the motor came with miss matched cylinder heads. So, I swapped the Glide for a 200R4 and the engine got a brand new Vortec top end.Ran this combo until winter 07 when I pulled the 327ci motor, kept the number match short block and sold the rest to help fund my LS motor swap.

Installed the oil pump with the Roll Master Double Roller timing chain oil pump spacers. Cleaned the front and rear covers, added new front and rear seals and installed loosely.Have to do some grinding on the front cover to clear the oil pump.Cleaned the lifters, plastic lifter holders and installed.Cleaned the cylinder head surfaces on the block, installed gaskets and heads and torqued head bolts.

Changed the three upper oil pump housing bolts to flat head allen and it looks like the cover is going to clear the pump with no grinding. Now the oil pan pick up tube is hitting the "V" shaped rib on the floor of the oil pan.I need to call "S&P" to see if they make a longer modified pick up tube for the double roller timing chain or cut the "V" back to clear the pick up area.

Spent a few hours cutting back the "V" on the floor of my S&P modified oil pan to clear the pick up tube. Finally decided to go with "F" Body accessories, so I painted and installed my F body balancer to center my front cover and installed my oil pan.Top cover got installed with knock sensors and new knock sensor seals.

Thanks for the feed back guys.Got some time in tonight.Crankshaft position sensor, camshaft position sensor installed.Stater installed.
I checked my pushrod length looks like I need to make a change(pattern was above center of valve stem)is that mean I have to go shorter or longer?
Cleaned the valve covers and installed new valve cover gaskets.Getting ready to do some painting including my Dougs motor mount adapters.
Have any of you used these GM coil brackets?None of the holes to mount the coils(I have the square ones)are threaded.Do you tap them?or use self tapping screws,or use nuts and bolts?Recommendations?

Looks like 7.350 push rods.Got water pump painted, drilled and tapped for steam lines. Also tapped coil brackets for 6mm attaching bolts.Painted my Dougs Header's motor mount adapters with a clear coat and installed them.Today I might get the engine in the vehicle! Wish me luck...
