Default Corvette Transmission in 1st Gen Camaro

I want to know if a six speed out of a 99 corvette will fit in my 69 camaro. I thought that you had to use a F-body six speed, but someone told me that they are pretty much the same transmission and if the F-body tranny would work the corvette tranny would work also.

The Corvette transmission is not the same as the Camaro transmission.

The Corvette transmission mounts in the rear. It bolts directly to the rear differential. It will not bolt into your 69 Camaro unless you use the Corvette rear suspension and torque tube.

Internally the transmissions are very similar, but externally they're very different. Strictly speaking it is possible to convert one to the other but it's a very labor intensive process requiring parts that are not often purchased - so it's nearly always more cost effective to just sell the Corvette gearbox and buy an F-Body gearbox.

all you needed to do is look at a corvette tranny. if you cant figure it out that way, you shouldnt be doing a swap.
