LS6/T56 swapped S-10
My buddy and I are gonna look at a S-10 with a LS6 & T56 swapped in. I just wanted to know if there was anything that I should keep my eyes out for?
I was gonna check all the electronics to see if the wiring was done properly and every thing functions. I was also gonna check for any clearance issues or rubbing anywhere. What else should I check concerning swapped applications?
Any ideas on how fragile the rear end on that truck is?
Thanks for your help.

where you going to look at one? I just so happen to have one. The things to look at will be mainly the wiring harness. I bought mine running and thought it just needed tuned well we went to tune it had a dead 02 sensor so now I am getting ready to put a current performance harness into mine. The Rear ends are ok until you put slicks on them. My truck squats hard and doesnt break so.......any questions feel free to ask.

i am owner too. built mine though. look at lots of things. The way the did the wiring, intake setup, cooling system, make sure everything functions, tranny X-member, fuel system, see if it has teh 7.5" or 8.5" rear. almost all s10's had the smaller shitty rear. My xtreme with the 4.3 and 5speed had the bigger so i lucked out.
Just some things i would suggest you look at.

I believe that everything from oil pan to wiring harness is covered in this post.

With the link page from S10 forums, there are a lot of close up pics.
Pay attention to oil pan clearance, if they notched the frame for the A/C compressor, make sure they boxed it, same with the lower crossmember.
Verify that the cooling fans will cool the truck with the a/c on while it's sitting still.
Find out how the cooling fans function. Work with the PCM or are they operated manually with a temp switch in the head.
Verify that the gauges are all working properly.
Look at the wiring harness and make sure that the connections were done properly and not just twisted together and taped.
If you require emissions, make sure that all of the equipment is on the truck and it has a converter.
Find out who tuned it and what they used.
Is the tune locked?
Bring a scanner and make sure that there are no store codes.
Check the fluids
Check alignment
Check the brakes
Do a panic stop to make sure it stops straight.

hum. The rearend should be fine remember there's no weight back there so the higher you rev and drop the clutch more you'll spin on street tires. Well the truck will have a custom driveshaft mostlikely. Ask and look at the trans crossmember and see how they made it. ask what oil pan they used if its a truck pan and the truck is lowered check for pan damage. See how they installed the back coil packs. Does it have a.c if so how's the welds are with the pocket they cut for the a/c.. If they lowered the back with blocks be careful they are more likely to brake or cause damage to the rear with wheel hop. Check each gear and if you hit the dash in 3rd or seat is in the way in 5th/6th. Ask how they did the fuel system there are many ways people do it and good idea to know what was done then to go whats not working. Finally any typical t56 problems hydraulic, clutch, gears. If the truck is like mine then its show clean and build to look and work like stock.
