Default Question On the Engine Sense Fuse

Hello my first post! I have a question on my LS1 engine swap. I have been studying the tons of great information on this forum and I just don’t understand a wiring issue. Looking at the 2000 LS1 schematics for the wiring/PCM and reading about the 5 main connectors to get the engine running. What fuses are used to protect all the sensors and for short protection? For example, the engine sense (20A) fuse is not used on a typical LS1 swap into an older vehicle. This fuse protects the O2 sensors, manual transmission, mass air flow sensor and stop light switch. I pulled this information from the repair manual. If you don’t use this fuse then how are these individual sensors powered (probably through the pcm) and protected from shorts? There are lots of other fuses like for the airbags, OK if you don’t have airbags you don’t need the fuse, relay, wiring ect. I’m mostly concerned with the engine sensors that don’t seem to be fused other then through the PCM. What am I missing here?

Thanks
