Default LSx Optimal Header Type

Swap is a 6.0/4l80e in a 1968 swb Chevy truck @ 3600lbs. Stock 317's, truck intake w/ported TB, 3.73 gears, 29" tall rear tire & considering a swap to a Crane grind for low~mid range torque boost (216/224; .551/.551; 115lsa).

Truck is both for work & play (it does occassionally tow a trailer). I need to order headers & my choices would be some (all non egr):

Pacesetter LT's 1 3/4" primary
Edelbrocks 1 3/4" primary stepped to 1 7/8"; 3" collector
Doug Thorley Try-Y's 1 5/8" primary; 2" secondary; 3" collector

I know the Try-Y's shine for torque, but will the others out perform? Please educate me on what LSx engines like.

I believe Thorley has a new long tube header out for 67-72 trucks made just for the Gen III/IV swap.

Yes they do. They're the one's referenced in my post.

From the dyno comparisons ive seen tri-y's are a damn good choice in both HP and TQ levels, Horespower TV recently did a comparison and the tri-y's came out on top, If i had the money those would be my selection.

Actually, the price isn't too bad vs. the LT options. I just wasn't too sure what mild LSx engines liked vs. GEN I motors as far as exhaust. From what I've read, GEN I's like 1 3/4" primary dia for wild applications where the LSx seems to do well w/the same diameter pipes @ lower power levels (I guess because of better efficiency?).

The Try-Y's have the smaller diameter primary & I didn't want to kill any power.
